I have the head cold that will not die!! Seriously. Ok that is one excuse. It is also cold which means my workout area is COLD! I work out on the patio ( I live in Florida , why would I stay inside). But this month has just been crazy weather.
That being said I have not been a total lump on the log. I have been out and about. I have been hooping, walking, and doing yoga. Just not to the levels worth stating. I am still waiting to fix my bike. That will help a lot, once I convince Jason I can ride to work and back.
Perk that will be coming next month. The Zoo is joining the Get Active! program with Aetna. So I will be tracking my steps and activity level on that site. May be that will give me more of a kick in the butt to get things done. Here is to hoping.
I did watch a nice TED talk about weight management. I hope what some things she says is wrong but I like her overall message.

Dec/Jan Book list
With all the holiday stuff last month I did not have a chance or the will to do a reading recap. So I am throwing it in with January.
The Gathering
Book 1 of another YA trilogy From Kelley Armstrong. That is by no way a put down on the book. It has her wonderful story lines going. She is great at creating characters that feel so real. This series feels more like on giant story. The book ends very abruptly and was very jarring. Now back to the good. Great story arc that blends in elements of the "otherworld" universe so that it was easy to pick up that it coincides with her other series. Her character development is spot on as I expect from her. I would recommend reading book 2 immediately afterwards.
The Calling
Book 2 of The Darkness Rising series. Continues with story arc from book 1 exactly where it left off. Typical middle book syndrome going, loads of character growth but not much plot growth. Still keeps interested in the series. I am looking forward to the last book.
The Garden Spell
The one it obviously a reread for me. I am looking forward to Lost Lake coming out on Jan 21 and picked up a copy of Garden Spell and Sugar Queen to reread before the new book comes out. I just devoured this book over a weekend. I really do lose myself in her writing. It is all just so magical.
Blue Moon (Anita Blake #8)
I still cannot get enough of this series. I really do enjoy all the characters and the multiple arcs se plays with. This book centers more on Anita and Richard. Their relationship is changing once again. Each book just sucks me in more. Thank heavens for the Library.
The Sugar Queen
This book feeds my sweet tooth, or better said it fuels my sweet tooth. I love the 3 main women of this book. They all go through so much to come out exactly where they need to be. I do have the printed copy of this book, so I have the chance to read a deleted scene but I never do. The book is perfect in my mind and I would not change anything in it.
The Giver
I had actually not read this book before. I know that it is on so many school reading lists but I had not read it. (by the way I love that schools do summer reading) I should have read the "book back" before diving in. I went in not knowing a thing as to what the book was about. I loved it. The world frightens me, as it should. I was not pleased with the ending and feeling like I am hanging out too dry but I hope the next book will make up for this ending.
LOST LAKE
This is new book from SAA. I know she was worried about her return to writing but the book hits the mark. Once in the grove of this book, I could not put it down. I did have problems getting into this book but it was not the book causing them, it was the camping trip and the cold that came back with me. Kate, Eby, and Devin are just amazing characters with so many cute quirks. The world of Lost Lake is one that I would love to find and become a resident of.

Eating Habits
This past weekend was one of our huge gaming events, hence the no Monday post. I had loads of fun and ran my butt off all over the campground. I had a blast with all my friends. At one point a group of us were talking about eating habits. One of us (not me) had gone gluten free a while back but was losing weight too fast for her Doctors comfort. So we were talking about small adjustments to eating. I realized I eat fairly badly. I get all the nutrients I need, but I also get a lot of junk I don't. I think I am going to search the Blog world and find simple/easy/cheap paleo meals. I have known so many friends to have such success on this but I also know that I cannot take pasta from my husband or chocolate from myself. Anyone know where I should start my search?

A charmed life
No, I do not have a charmed life. What I do have is a charm bracelet. I guess it is a kinda family tradition. But Kelley did not have one. Mom, Kat and I do and I still love mine. I know that one of my grandmothers gave me it as a gift but I have long forgotten which one so in my mind it came from all of them. The first charms on my bracelet were a heart the says Grandma, a teddy bear (I still love stuff animals), and the old lady who lived in the shoe (to match the charm on my mother's bracelet). I have added few over the years and I have lost a few. I keep meaning to find a teacup, camera, and a radio to go on the bracelet. I have lost my lizard, caldagh, and lucky cat. Last weekend I went to a local bead shop to create a new charm for my bracelet. It has been ages since I added to it and I lost the cat recently. I chose a nice swirl and leaf both in really nice silver. I am so in love with it. Hence this post to show it off. Each charm on my bracelet has a story, has a meaning, and has love behind it. I love that I carry my stories with me.

Fitness Friday
New semi weekly installment. Since I have decided that I want to be more healthy and all that jazz. I am actually setting a weight loss goal. When I lose X amount of weight I will get a tatoo. Right now, I think, I am sititng between 180-190 lbs. I want to be around 140 or may be even 130. Basically I want to go back to a size 10. But I suck at dieting and all that jazz. I need incentive to get this done. Hence the tatoo. I have been wanting one for a long time. I even know what I want and may be where I want it. So I will tack up my goal arounf the home and see how that works.
Right now my exercise consists of yoga about every other day. I had plan with the new year to kick off new exercise plans but I was taken with a cough that just will not go away. It is make my start very slow. I will hope to pick up soon. I am not doing the gym stuff because, frankly, I cannot afford a gym membership. I will have to make do with portion control and light - moderate exercise. My hope is also to start hooping again and get back up to 4-5 hours of hoop play a week.

Not a great New Year still
I am still sick. How do you like that. I feel much better this week and I am moving about more and more. I have had a serious cold/congestion issues since I came back from Dad's. I have it on the run! I am expecting to have it out of my system in the next few days.
Since I have not been feeling so great I have not really started on my "fitness re-haul", but that does not mean I have been totally lazy. I have decided January shall focus on flexibility. Something I have lost over the years and need to regain in order to do much of anything else. So I have restarted the yoga challenge. Next week or so I will bring my ball exercises in once a week also. That way in Feb I can start hooping and walking more. That is my plan at the moment.
Starting with a new job search. Jason and I have decided that really want to return to Tennessee. I am happy to go home again but I DREAD job searching. I am not one to have the thickest skin and rejections hit me really hard. I should know I have had plenty of them already. But I should just suck it up and keep trying to improve my allotment.

A New Year
I really meant to post last week but I have been ill. Nothing serious at all, just a bit too much congestion to deal with. So I have been going to work and going to bed. Yep, I have been living the high life.
We did go to north GA for the holiday. It was lovely to be there. I even got to see the "in-laws". I hate that the trip is so far. I will hopefully be getting the photos uploaded this weekend. I did mention I have been sick.
Since we have been home it had been work and bed, that is all. I have not even touched my camera. New Years was watching TV and drinking sparkling cider at midnight.
I have decided to not so much do a resolutions as much as a mantra. "New year, new you, now move!" It will be my goal to exercise everyday. I have become very lazy over the past year and that will have to change PRONTO. I have not started yet since I have been sick but I have plans goals and what not. :)
