Ramblings

Well we made it to and from Tennessee without injury.  The car might be in need of some work soon but that is to be expected.  I had a great time with all my geek/ LARP friends.  I always feel so wonderful around them.  Plus on the day we left we had lunch with dad and that is always awesome!

After we came back.  I decided to be adventurous in the kitchen.  Our stove top does not like to maintian a normal tempature.  It has warm or "OMG my food!!!", not the best thing for cooking.  So, I am trying to bake things more in the little toaster oven.  I love the toaster oven.  The recipe  that I tried (twice) this past week was for puffins.  It was yummy both times. Ok you are sitting there thinking "what the heck is a puffin??".  It is a pancake baked in a muffin tin.  I tried it with and without meat and both were tasty!

The Magic PUFFIN

2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs
3/4 cup syrup
Toppings – chocolate chips, bacon, sausage(I used the links cut up), blueberries, cranberries, bananas, nuts, etc.

Preheat oven to 350°.

Mix Bisquick, milk, eggs, and syrup together and pour into muffin pans with cupcake liners. Fill each cup half way, and top with your favorite topping. Bake for 14-15 minutes or until a toothpick, inserted, comes out clean. Makes 17-18, normal sized, puffins.

I think I am a bit obbessed with our lions here at the Zoo.

This is the majority of the lion area.

A good case of nerves

So today I have a good case of nerves.  I just submitted a photo to a contest.  I don't think I will win or anything but it is always fun and exciting to enter.  I submitted my picture of the east african crowned crane.  I love this photo it was one that made me smile a lot!  Most poeple will know the photo since I have been using it for my for my facebook picture.  But here he is again (well I don't know if it is a he but I think it looks very masculine).

This weekend husband and I will be visiting friends and family in TN.  So hopefully I will have happy mountian pictures to show off.

Birthday Weekend Success

This past weekend was our first birthday in Florida.  We did not do much but that was perfect for me.  Jason bought us fabric.  He got some fur for a costume and I got linen for pants and cotton to make a costume tunic.  I like that we received so many messages from friend's and family on our birthday.   Thank you again if I have not already told you.

I am going to make the tunic that is first on the third row in green and the pants that are first on the fourth row in black with a pocket added with embroidery.  I have all my pattern pieces cut just nothing actually stitched yet.  I have to have Jason put the embroidery on the pocket before I really get too far in.

Modern education is premised strongly on materialistic values. It is vital that when educating our children’s brains that we do not neglect to educate their hearts, a key element of which has to be the nurturing of our compassionate nature.
