ugh ill

Well I have not been ill.  But the poor husband got hit hard.  He spent most of last week hiding in bed.  The worst is over we think.  Today he is back at school but still hurting.  I have a feeling he will not last all day.  I feel bad for him when he is sick.

This past week has been very uneventful.  I have not been able to get much done.  It seemed to have been a very health aware week for me.  My work had a health fair so I got to get a bunch of numbers done.  For the most part my numbers were a little high but the high ones were with 10 points of normal.  Yay me.  The chiropractor that was there also did free first visits with X-rays, so I am going to see how bad my neck and back have gotten.  Plus Jason and I are going to start changing the way we eat and how much we eat over the next few months.  So this will start a new adventure.

I am still baking the English muffin bread and improving with each week.  I think I will try a kneading bread soon.  I am also thinking of trying my hand at Irish soda bread.  Who knows, but that will not be until this weekend.

--Reading Updates--

I have added another book to my current list bringing me up to 3 books to read and 1 I listen to in the car.  I am actually only reading Feast for Crows right now because it is a library book and it is very long.  I think I am about a quarter of the way in.  I am still waiting for a chapter about my two favorite characters...and waiting.  I hope there will be one soon.  Once I am done I should be back to reading The Thirteenth Tale and The Peach Keeper.

L1 part 2 has started

Well the nice winter break is over and it is time to hit the books again.  After all the worrying during the break we find ourselves sitting in a decent spot.  Hubby is ranked the top 50% of his class.  That is a wonderful place to be.  Already 20% of his class has been removed.  This semester by no means will be a breeze but nor is it nearly a scary as the last one.  Well I say that but I am not the one who is in the class.

This week the study schedule has not kicked.  I am expecting next week to only see my husband for dinner and breakfast.  Which will stay the norm until the semester is over and done.  I love that he is willing to work so hard.  I just wish it was easier going in the long run.  I look forward to when it is over and done with.  I think this semester will be rough but that he will suceed.

Update on the book challenge

Well I finished listening to Guilty Pleasure.  I must say that I am bitten.  I am drawn to Anita Blake now like a moth to the flame.  I have already added the second book (again in audio format) to my library wait list.

Since I could not decided between The Thirteenth Tale and The Peach Keeper I am reading them both now.  I am reading The Thirteenth Tale at my work breaks and The Peach Keeper at home.  But now I am starting on a library book (love digital library) A Feast for Crows by GRR Martin.

You will notice the look of this blog changing over the course of the few weeks as I find my own style.  Please leave comments so I know what will work.

42 Books

So I was looking at my feed on Goodreads.com and saw the book challenge 2013.  I love this idea. Thus being the nerd/geek that I am, I chose to read 42 books in 2013.  I am love to read and thanks to my loving kindle it is easy to always have books at my finger tips.  No, I do not work for Amazon.com.  The kindle was a gift from my Husband's family and it is perfect for me.

So the first book that I have read for this year is one of my favorites.  Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffery is just what I needed to start my year over right.  This is a trilogy about a young woman Killhandra Ree who becomes a legendary crystal singer.  Killshandra is strong and will survive no matter what the universe sends to her.  I love having books with amazing women characters and more so when you find them in science fiction. The book is just amazing as to be expected with anything that Mrs. McCaffery wrote.  I am looking forward to continuing her adventures later on in the year.

I am also listening to books.  It is nice when I am driving or working around the house.  I am really tired of listening to the same stories over and over again on the radio.  So I downloaded the first book of the Anita Blake series, Guilty Pleasures.  I have been told by so many people that I should read this series.  I have caved and finding myself being drawn deeper and deeper into this amazingly dark world of vampires, ghouls and other garish creatures.  I will say this I cannot wait to get stuck in traffic so that I can listen to this story for longer.

I am thinking that my next book will either be The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen or The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.

Too long forgotten

Ok I fell of the face of the blogging planet.  But I am new to this so it can be forgiven, I hope.

Jason has completed his first semester of Law School.  I think we have both had the wind knocked out of us by the intensity of the finals.  I know he understands the concepts and can talk your head off about them.  Which he does to me as practice.  Yet, when it comes to testing and essays that seems to take the flare out of him a bit.  We are both worried about the grades but when are we not.  He sits right now about the middle of the pack.  I am confident that he will pull to the front-ish of the pack next semester which starts next week. *update: grades came back and he is now in the good side of the curve!(1/9/13)*

My favorite tree of Zoo Lights.

I am loving my job at the zoo.  I have been doing what feels like so much but really amounts to very little.  I survived my first membership drive without too many issues.  Also we had our first annual Zoo Lights event that was a huge success. I had so much fun talking to guests on the phone about all we were doing.  I am actually going to look forward to this event next year.  Having both of those events back to back for me created huge back logs in file reporting that I only just got sorted.  I think that I have it sorted.

Well it is a New Year and time to make new goals.  I have made an actual weight goal but I will not be sharing that here until I have made some progress.  We have also decided that this year we will trying baking breads more.  I am loving the recipe for English Toasting Bread.  I find this recipe to make a light and airy bread perfect for butter and jam!  Jason has been improving on his pizza recipes and is making improvements.
